CURTAINS: In 1999 A.C. Mim began experimenting with a new process in which she worked acrylic gel, polymer and pigment over large sheets of polyethylene plastic to create translucent two dimensional works. Some of these smaller scale pieces, which Mim referred to as SKINS were mounted onto canvas. Others were fixed in plexiglas boxes, to create the two sided JANUS Series. Upon discovering this material could be peeled from its plastic support in large sheets, Mim's sculptural instincts once again took over, to develop these hybrid works, which she refers to as CURTAINS.
